Lesson Plan Modification

Purpose of this assignment:

To apply the concept of TPCK in the modification of a Core Lesson Plan in order to include a special needs child who may be in the regular classroom.

 

  1. Go to UEN Lesson Plans.
  2. Choose the Grade Level of the student you are working with for your final project. For example, First
  3. Pick a content area (different than the one you are using for your final project) for example, 1st grade content
  4. Choose a lesson plan (different than the plan you are using for your final project), for example, 1st grade-Act. 13: Five senses Walk around the School
  5. Copy and past the lesson plan into Microsoft Word.
  6. Turn on Track Changes in Word.
  7. Pretend that your special needs child (the one you are working with for your final project) is in a regular class. Go through the lesson plan and add changes to the lesson plan in order to accommodate your special needs student. 
    1. Would you have additional or different materials?
    2. Would you include additional resources?
    3. Would you include additional background information for the teacher?
    4. Make modifications to the Instructional Procedure?  What will your special needs student do?  What will you do?
    5. Make recommendation for Family Connections and an Assessment Plan that your special needs student can do  

Save your document with your group name plus LP Mod in the file name.
